Board of Directors

GARDP’s Board meets at least twice a year and is GARDP’s ultimate policy and decision-making authority. The Board is composed of up to 15 members and includes leading international figures in global health.

The Board determines GARDP’s strategic goals and ensures that the management, through implementation of the organizational strategy and annual business and action plans, works diligently and efficiently to meet these goals. The Board establishes the policies and principles followed by GARDP and appoints the Chair, Vice-chair, and Treasurer of the Board as well as the Executive Director.

Procedures for the appointment of Board members are guided by GARDP’s Statutes and By-laws as approved by the Swiss Supervisory Board for Foundations.

Scientific Advisory Committee

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) comprises scientists with expertise in various disciplines within infectious diseases and microbiology including drug discovery and development, medicinal chemistry, antimicrobial resistance, paediatrics and neonatology, and public health. The SAC has a consultative function: its members advise GARDP’s Board of Directors in order to carry out GARDP’s scientific objectives, assess GARDP’s scientific strategy and projects, and provide guidance and medical and scientific expertise to GARDP’s programmes.

The SAC operates independently of the Board of Directors and GARDP’s Management Team. The Board of Directors approves the selection of members.
