Dr Mercedes Tatay is the International Medical Secretary for MSF responsible for the overall medical operational portfolio in more than 70 countries – a role she has held since 2016. She draws from her background working across global health issues and extensive experience in research and development, including as chair of the MSF Access Campaign Steering Committee, lead on the MSF research and development dossier and overseeing the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative partnership.

Prior to her role with MSF, Dr Tatay worked with the World Health Organization to address the Ebola outbreak in Western Africa. Having practised for many years in hospital settings, Dr Tatay’s background bridges preclinical research with the reality of the patients’ needs in daily clinical practice.
