GARDP’s response on the draft recommendations of the Ad hoc Interagency Coordination Group on Antimicrobial resistance (IACG)

19 February 2019

The Ad hoc Interagency Coordination Group (IACG) on Antimicrobial Resistance‘s mandate is to provide practical guidance for approaches needed to ensure sustained effective global action to address antimicrobial resistance. The IACG has analysed critical issues in the response to antimicrobial resistance with the aim of informing its report and recommendations. Prior to finalization of the report, IACG Members and the Secretariat are engaging with partners to obtain input on the draft recommendations and help ensure that they address key needs in the response to antimicrobial resistance.

GARDP welcomes the opportunity to comment on the draft recommendations prior to finalization, and as part of sustained effective global action to address antimicrobial resistance, the recognition by the IACG of the need to address innovation and access to existing and new health technologies. GARDP’s response focuses on R&D for human health, while recognizing and supporting the need for better prevention of infections in humans and animals, a One Health approach, and the potential for synergies between approaches taken.
